Silent Gallery is pleased to present our second project with Bay Area artist Lee Walton.

Lee Walton invites the Bay Area community to participate in “LAST PLACE: The 2001 Walton Derby” on October 13, 2001. Participants will receive a pinewood race car to build and compete against one another. Artists, non-artists and local art galleries will be involved in what is to be the most exciting evening the Bay Area art community has seen. Refusalon, San Francisco's most cutting-edge art gallery, will host the event in their South of Market location.

Lee Walton has adpoted the pinewood derby race, a traditional Boy Scout event, and has changed the rules to create an event that is more challenging and imaginative.

The rules are simple. The slowest car to cross the finish line wins. All cars that lose or do not finish the race are chopped in half. At the end of the night, there will be only one car.

Get it. Build it. Race it.
