RACING  
1. The object is to build a car that will cross the finish line last.  
2. No materials may be added to the surface of the wheels.  
   

 

     
  WHEELS  
1. Only the black plastic of the wheels can make contact with the surface of the track.  
2. No materials may be added to the surface of the wheels.  
   
  BODY  
1. No part of the car’s body or extension of the car’s body (excluding wheels) shall touch the track or any other cars during the race.  

  PEFORMANCE  
1. No powered devices may be used to propel or slow the your car in any way. No motorized parts, batteries, or electronics may be used to enhance the movement of the car. However, these parts are acceptable if they are used for aesthetic purposes only.  
2. A car’s performance cannot be manually controlled or determined during the race by any devices other than the natural elements of its surroundings.  
3. All cars will be placed on the starting line by the official race coordinators.  
4. Lane positions will be decided arbitrarily by the official race coordinators.  
     
  INSPECTION  
1. The inspections will determine if each car has complied with the above Rules and Regulations.  
2. Each car must pass the inspection before given authorization to race.  
3. After your car has passed inspection, no adjustments can be made until after the race.  
4. After each race, you may make any necessary changes to your car. It must pass inspection again before the next race.  
     
  AFTER THE DERBY  
1. No cars will be taken home.  
2. All cars, win or lose, will remain at Southern Exposure for viewing. All fast cars or cars which do not cross the finish line will be chopped in half at a later date. View pile of chopped cars from the 2001 Walton Derby here.  
3. You will only go home with the experience of the Derby and the memory of your car. The slower the car, the longer the memory.
